Earlier this week a Delta Airlines Boeing 737-800w made an unexpected crash landing on the kitchen table when the pilot, Capt. Simon Sharples reported problems with the front landing gear. The 2 year old pilot was calm at the controls in spite of the forceful touchdown as the little 737 slammed hard into a matchbox airport runway which is now serving as the future site of the SOS International Airport. The Senior Air Traffic Controller made the following statement- "I had no idea Capt. Sharples was at the controls and that he intended in making that emergency landing."
Damage to the nose gear of the Delta 737 is reported to be extreme and no repair is expected. A new replacement Delta 737-800w has been ordered and will be shipped sometime next week. "This unfortunate accident is another reason to speed up plans for the expansion of a much larger state of the art 1:400 scale airport!" said Zach Sharples. "The runway of the current Matchbox airport is simply too small, especially for the larger aircraft like the Airbus A360." In speaking with the Financial Officer of Aircraft Development, Kelly Sharples the budget for the new airport has been approved and is currently on schedule for it's grand opening on Christmas Day 2009!
